BIO + CV
A native Norwegian, INgjerd jentoft KArlsen spent the last 10 years living in Canada. Through a multitude of events and incidents, her career as a physiotherapist was put to rest, only for her to answer the long-standing desire to become an artist. Yet, her empathy with people of various (dis-) abilities and intimate knowledge of the body is due to her previous occupation, and a basis for reflection and inspiration.
The outdoors is also a source of inspiration and a place to rest. A passion for mountain climbing brought InKa to the high slopes in South America and the Himalayas. Travel is an opportunity to gain new perspectives, particularly in ‘slow-mode’. By staying for several months in new places, there is a chance to learn about others and oneself, being away from the comfort of the well-known.
InKa’s work springs out of observations, personal memory, lived experience and mythology.
